Wild Woman

Just home from a traumatic week with my Mum and aunt so happy to get back into the crafting swing of things, two weeks course work to do in one week - so I stay up nights!. The pic is my version (ladylike version)of a Wild woman as designed by Sarah Lawrence.Anyway - happy to be back with you all out there in blogland.

Up to date with my online course so I made a few ATCs tonight, mixing paper, fabric and lace as usual. I seem to have lots of these decorative flowers so thought I'd better start using them, not to everyones taste but they're not to bad on the cards.

Challenge

The last part of this weeks course work was to embellish a picture of a photo, my OH took a photo of a daisy field for me so I gave it a go, the actual work is lighter in colour than the photo of it and I think that this sort of picture looks better from a distance, anyway I'll let you all make your own minds up about it.The piece is worked on black felt that has been painted with Lumiere and acrylic paints then felted with pure wool topps, some stitching has been added and embellished over as I didn't like it.

Embellished, Stitched and Enriched?

The weather hasn't been too good this weekend but we had a good weekend at Rutland Water in the Caravan, between walking and reading etc I worked away at my embellished sample (see below) and hopefully enriched it with stitching and beads,I don't have a big stitch repetoire so it is pretty basic but I like it!

Unfinished

This piece is made up of a base of foil on felt covered with snips of wool, scrim and silk etc. overlaid with chiffon then felted into the base felt, the next process is to embellish it with embroidery stitches and beads.

ATCs for a change

Managed to make three atcs for the stockpile, altho I love working with fabric I still enjoy papercrafts so need to get an even balance of both.

Beautiful!

I just received this atc from Margreet in Holland, it has taken four weeks to get here but was certainly worth the wait, it is knitted and embroidered, a little work of art!! and I love it.

Embellisher Course

I am really enjoying this online course, but having to 'juggle' everything to get it all done. This sample is wool topps embellished on to scrim for the background and wool and silk topps again on scrim for the flowers, I will perhaps use this in a larger piece one of these days.Looking forward to seeing what this weeks instalment will bring.( Please note - this isn't the only result of a weeks work!!!)

Just a few

Below a slideshow of a few photo's from our cruise holiday in the 'med, part of this was to Italy, which was a first for us so we visited all the famous - must see - places, in scorching heat and me with a painful knee, perhaps the reason i don't smile too well on the photos. The top photo is showing Mount Vesuvius overlooking the bay of Naples, a sad visit for me as it reminded me of my dad who was stationed there during the war in 1944 when Vesuvius last erupted, I have included a photo of that event that Dad brought home with him. The Barcelona market was fantastic, the stalls all works of art the way they were so perfectly set out and ' colour matched' so I just had to take pics in there. In the chocolate stall photo OH is trying to get to the stall but the lady is determined to keep sweeping ( dust all over the chocs - oh dear.)

Check out my Slide Show!

A Walk in the garden

I love the large perennial plants of this time of the year and am especially pleased with my poppies that I grew from seed last year.Hoping to get the garden planted out with summer bedding this weekend. Trouble is as we get older I'm sure the garden gets larger!

Just one more go

Have done my first samples for the online Embellisher course so feel ok to have another play with Dumpr - it really is fun, thank you Connie for finding this.

Just had to play!

I spied a new web site that Connie was using for her photographs so had a look and here's the result, my very first crazy patchwork egg.The site is http://www.dumpr.net/ - when I first looked for it I must have typed an extra e in and couldn't work out how a site for Dumper trucks could come up with fancy picture work - so sad!

Online Course

I have just downloaded the first lesson of the Embellisher course - looks really exciting so will read thro it and hopefully start something tomorrow, still a pile of holiday washing to do plus my mothers things as her washer gave up the ghost some time ago - "don't worry i'll do it" - says I!!, oh well it'll get done. I really should write out a 'to do list' as I keep remembering things I committed to before I went away and would feel awful if I forget something (if I suddenly remember that I forgot it that is!!!)

Lovely ATCs !

My other post yesterday was made up of these three great ATCs - 'Mucking Out ' from Angie really made me smile, the fused fabric one from Aileen is beautiful and finally from Liz for the UK Embellisher Group swap an atc made up of embellished fibres - what a treat in the post.

Back Home

Will post my other goodies and a few holiday pics as soon as have done most of ' the return from holiday chores' - ugh!!
