Vintage Journaling - Someones Memories........

I have a small collection of vintage photographs/cabinet cards so I scanned this lovely lady, printed her off and added her to a page that I had prepped for a workshop but never used, I added scrim, a lace scrap and the striped fabric that at the moment I can't remember what it's called - HELP! also an old linen button - (who remembers those - ME! ).I'm really pleased with the page and it sit's happily among the other wierd and wonderful pages of my journal.

A tag and a couple of cards that i made this week, i printed off the pictures and used doilies on the inked backgrounds., the flowers came from my stash and were originally pale nuetral colours but i changed them  with distress inks.

Bin fishin.............

I put this fish together after seeing some that Andy Skinner had with him on friday, I'm pleased with it but it needs improving to give it a faux metal finish, it's a start tho'.

What a fantastic tho' tiring  first birthday weekend we had at the shop, Andy Skinner started off the Workshops on friday and the pics show him surrounded by mesmerized crafters - he really is brilliant and has promised to return to do further workshops.

Getting ready..........

We are 'girding our loins  in readiness for the big 1st birthday celebration weekend at the shop which starts on Thursday, we have Andy Skinner there on friday and I plan to join his workshop - hoping the plan works, anyway taking it easy at the moment with just our make and takes to get ready for thursday - even Roy is doing one - i'll make a crafter of him yet, that's if I can drag him away from his Bowls.
The pic today is of a mini journal page i've just finished - really enjoying this journaling once I can sort out what to do!!!!

A sunny day................... and celebrations

Well we've certainly had a sunny day here so it seems fitting to share this journal page with you..........
It's hard to believe that in two weeks it's the first birthday of Barjanb Crafts, the shop has done well over the year and stocks a great selection, something for everyone I think, we will be celebrating with a make and take day and three days of workshops with - to name just two  - Andy Skinner, Clare Rowlands (molly bloom) . I'm in the process of making a raffle prize for the weekend so watch this space and some tree decs for our tree in the Tree Fest at the Baptist church - plus other things too numerous to mention!! anyway we are certainly in for a busy time ahead.

New Camera ......at last

I treated myself to a basic digi camera yesterday so I could  photograph my project pics - strange no instructions tho !! but they were there, on a cd for me to print off - all 49 pages, needless to say I've just printed the ones I think i'll need. This is the first pic from the camera taken before I found the instructions and with the flash on unfortunately, not so bad but hopefully i'll get better.

With a little help from my friend........

We've just had a few days caravanning in Norfolk with Jan and her hubby and of course jan and I spent the evenings crafting, for sometime I've wanted to do some Art Journaling and this was just the chance to get a masterclass from Jan - the picture  is my first journal page done with a little help..............

Is it just me?????

I really don't like this new blog set up!!! - posted two pics and only one came up so here is the front of the inside page.

Back home and so cold!!

Well I'm home after two weeks cruising around the very hot Canary Islands and not forgetting a visit to the Azores, I place I never thought to visit way out in the Atlantic any way back to the cold cold UK! I haven't crafted yet as have to get all the washing done and holiday paraphenalia sorted so I'm posting something from before I went away -it's the first  page of the large album I'm making, it's a
flip over page and is held closed with a magnet, inside there are places for tags and photo mats, I've put in a couple of my collection of old photo's or cabinet cards as I think they are called in the US anyway that's one page down and about 17 to go!!

Tuesday 9 October 2012

Playing with colour.........

These cards were inspired by an article in the latest Craft Stamper magazine, I loved the bright colours and decided to have a go, the stamps I've used are from Graphic 45 as well as odds and ends from my stash. - I'm really pleased with the results altho I think you must choose the colours of the inks carefully to avoid getting too dark a background

Friday 5 October 2012

I mentioned I'd signed up for an Online workshop, it's with Clare Charvill to make a Graphic 45 Kraft Reflections album, there are 17 youtube videos to work thro' and I'm just coming to the end of no 3 so a finished album early next year hopefully!!! The album is made from scratch using chipboard and black card, it measures 7 1/2 x 9 3/4 and is 3 inches in thickness, there are 8 pages so that's 16 sides and inside front and back covers to decorate - It is turning out as it should and I'm loving it. I'm posting the photo of the front cover, lots of fussy cutting, punched flowers and stickles but really not gaudy.

Halloween Owl

I was tossing ideas around the old brain and came up with this Tando chipboard Gothic arch combined with embossed metal using one of my early cuttlebug embossing folders and cut outs from some scrapbooking papers i had, ok so it's a little early for halloween but ............. I haven't posted much lately mainly because my projects are all works in progress in the form of mini albums but as soon as I have something to photograph i'll post it.

More white......

Today is my Mainly White workshop and one of the cards i'm doing is taken from my 'magazine cards', I've changed the die i used fore the corners but otherwise it's pretty much the same. The flowers were made using a six petal punch and the gentle distressing is done in Spun Sugar distress ink.

Tuesday 11 September 2012

Mainly white.............

This week I'm prepping my saturday 'mainly white' workshop and this card pictured is one I put together after i'd decided on the designs I want to do for that,I've used various dies and edged the die cuts gently in spun sugar distress ink and altho' this card looks intricate it is, other than the pearls, flat so shouldn't warrant the large postage stamp. I'll show the other cards next but again i'm having camera trouble - I really feel a new little camera coming on.

Friday 7 September 2012

High flyers........

Still prepping workshops like mad , hopefully after this weekend I can do something different but for now here is one of the cards for tonights workshop - 'stamping with men in mind' I hope it goes down well.

Saturday 1 September 2012

Florals..............

I have been busy crafting but nothing finished to post on the blog, I'm prepping a couple of workshops and making cards for Rob Adams TV show at the end of the week so I decided to show some pics of cards I made from Rob's last cd, the TV presenters barely showed any of the cards we made altho' one was very taken with the most simple item - the little notebook pictured here.

'Ladies Diary' mini album..............

This was made using the left overs of paper from the clock with the addition of card to make the pages, it has tags in pockets on each page and they can be used for journalling and small photographs, it measures about 4 1/2 x 6 inches, I have to say i really enjoy making these albums - I've yet to keep one tho' as this one is going with the clock into the shop window - soon i'll make one for me!!

Friday 17 August 2012

Fit for a Lady!

I really love the Graphic 45 papers and after thinking long and hard about decorating this Tando clock I realised that the 'Ladies Diary' papers were just right and here it is a clock fit for a lady!! ( my mother always said i'd never be a LADY!!) I used 3 12x12 papers and from the leftovers another album will appear - hopefully.

Just a note...............

Just a note to say - I've been published!!! The shop was asked to do a project in a crafting magazine and I was given the job - it was to create 4 cards using a six petal punch so after an initial panic I created and even managed to include some steampunk - I've put a pic of the magazine in the sidebar.

Thursday 9 August 2012

Using up the leftovers................

When I made the Graphic 45 'Oddities' album I had quite a few leftovers so after watching a few Youtube videos on how to make an album from scratch I produced this ' Old Curiousity Shoppe ' mini album, (another first for me), it is around 6 x 4 inches with six pages, that's 12 sides plus both sides of the front and back cover to decorate with pockets and tags for memo's and photo's! a glutton for punishment that's me!! but I really enjoyed doing it and am planning my next one. What am I going to do with it - give it away for a crafty charity raffle this weekend - I promised so I can't change my mind - can I ??

Thursday 2 August 2012

Come Fly with me..............

I've used the Tando Hot Air balloon kit to make this wall hanging and used my favourite nuetral shades to give it a vintage look, now this one I did put together with a workshop in mind, I think the sentiment is from Indigo Blu or is it Creative Expressions??? well one or the other!
I'm entering this into the Tando august challenge - the theme is Travel.

Sunday 29 July 2012

Hanging around - again....

After I made the original wall hanging, with Tando jewellery parts, we decided it would make a nice 'little' workshop so I had to 'tweek' the idea to be suitable.Friday was our first evening workshop and five happy crafters (4 ladies and a gent) produced their own vintage wall hangings as well as enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine ( I stuck to coffee!!)So, sorry to be repetative but here's the pic and it really is different to the original - honest!
I have other things to show but I'm still having camera problems - or to be truthful - camera won't work!!

Saturday 21 July 2012

Unusual Oddities!!

This is something a bit different for me but I've really enjoyed doing it, I bought a Graphic 45 memory box with album and using the Olde Curiousity Shoppe papers, also from G45 I decorated it and filled it with tags that photos can be attached to and memory sticks for journalling. I took my inspiration from Clare at 'my creative spirit' , she is the UK design team member for G45 and her work is really great, she also does lots of Youtube tutorials that are worth watching.(I hope the photos are clear enough.)

Tuesday 17 July 2012

more lavender and lace.............

Saturday I took a 'Christmas in July ' workshop which went down well, i'll show the cards i did later, in between prepping for that and the Andy Skinner pieces I managed to get to my sewing machine, my aim is to try and use up some of my lace collection, despite the fact that as with other crafty goodies - once it's used I won't have it any more - such a dilemma!! anyway here's a pic ( slightly blurred i think) of the vintage style lavender bag I managed to get made - hopefully more to come!

Friday 13 July 2012

In the frame........

This is really not a good picture, I've really struggled to get it worth looking at and this is the best I got.I did enjoy the Andy Skinner online workshop and after finding this frame decided to give it the 'book of secrets' treatment and it worked well, it really looks better in reality!! - the stamped balloon image is temporary until I decide what to put in it.
