Raw Edges

I have actually made something this afternoon, Jan had sent me some upholstery samples that cry out to be made into needle cases etc so, inspired by Jan, that's what I did, my problem is that I always worry when the material ,that is left raw edged, frays slightly - this type of work is definitely out of my comfort zone but I love to see it and try it. The picture, one of my favourites, is a gel medium transfer onto fabric. I'm pleased with the result but - must stop cutting off the little threads that stick out!!

Ha ha!! I can see a few sticky- out threads so you've done VERY well!!
Seriously though, it is so pretty and the transfer is perfect.

This is so pretty Maureen. If you cut the piece of fabric which is going to have raw edges a tiny bit larger than you need, and then deliberately fray the edges to leave a little fringe all the way round, I think you might feel happier about it.

I know what you mean about raw edges that's one reason I can't make a raw edge book--I keep trimming off the dangly edges, but I win one day--trust me.

I know what you mean with cutting of those little threads :) I have the same problem! They both look great, also with the frays !! LOL

I love this - colours great, and frayed edges don't usually worry me - when they have done I've been known to add a smear of Marvin, or similar,(just a TINY smear - honest!).
A friend said she saw an upholstery fabric sample book in a charity shop recenty - hesitated to get it for me, but didn't as I've been saying I have too much stash!
What a miss out - I can always pile more things on the floor!
Connie.
