Stitching

I came back from the Quilt Festival last week with lots of ideas and stitching inspiration which resulted in me wanting to make a quiltie/wall hanging of a seascape. The silly thing is that the seascape colour scheme will not fit in with my home colours but I still wanted to have a go, perhaps to make a pair with the first embellisher piece that I did that was a seascape and does hang proudly over the fireplace. I cut out the pieces for a 20 inch long hanging and pieced that together, it's waiting for backing and further stitching.I put together a smaller piece using a quicker method then over stitched and added braids, that's as far as I've got, do I frame it or put an edging round it, not sure yet but I think I like it.

August challenge

The Graphicus challenge this month is a choice of complimentary colours or Christmas which is what I've chosen. The background lines come from a Wendy Vecchi stamp and the text is from Elusive Images, the tree is a Sizzix die cut and the flowers are punched.

Wall Plaque

Despite being full of ideas after visiting the Quilt Festival yesterday, I just had to have a go at this plaque, while out this morning I saw,in a store, a large wall hanging that reminded me of squares covered in beautiful scrapbook papers then stamped with swirls - I can do that I thought and here it is my mini version, I covered chipboard squares with K&Co paper, glimmer sprayed then stamped with Elusive Images Wild Meadow stamps and edged with orange distress inks. The canvas I just painted with a pearly paint but then thought it needed more so I tore up a music printed napkin and mod podged it on, I gessoed, sprayed and inked until I got the right effect, stuck on the squares and it's done - something a bit different for me as I don't do messy too often. ( it is equal at the sides, I scanned it offcentre)

Finished at last.
Over the past year Jan, Wendy and myself have been working on a book , we each picked a theme and completed three identical pages on the theme then sent them to each other, there are 6 themes within the book all nature based. We have picked our own front page design and I have called my book Natures Way.
I've just returned from a few lovely days caravanning in Cambridgeshire with Jan and her OH ( and mine of course) We did quite a bit of craft shopping as unbeknown to us there were two craft outlets close by (we didn't know -honest)and we also went over to Olney in Buckinghamshire to LB Crafts and had a good spend there, do I really need to be going to the Quilt Fest at the NEC tomorrow??

Inspired by the Sea

I borrowed Wendy's Elusive Images sea stamps so that I could join in the Graphicus ATC swap with a Sea theme, I used up some fabric that I had made some time ago by layering and stitching organzas, I then adhered the EI small seahorse. The ship card was coloured with ink, literally, as i somehow got blue ink on my hands when I changed the printer cartridge, I then swiped the baby wipe, that I had used to clean up the ink, across the card to create the sea and sky - waste not, want not!
