Wild Woman from Oz and other goodies.
Lovely things in the post this morning, I did a Wild Woman Swap with Doreen in Australia and got her lovely one this morning, she called it 'Flower Power', it's just my colours and also just in time to wear next week when I go to Crafts4crafters at Newark and see Sarah Lawrence the original Wild woman. I also got some beautiful fabrics from Connie, they are crying out to be mixed with vintage pictures as a post card or book page or both, think I'm beginning to get inspired again, the trouble is i want to do everything at once.

Work in Progress.
Not doing to much at the moment, can't seem to settle to anything with Mum still in hospital so am just posting a picture I transferred onto fabric using Maggie Grey's way with Bondaweb, you certainly get a much more pastel effect than with gel medium. I want this to become a mini quilt/picture inspired by one I've seen in Beryl Taylor's book 'Mixed Media Explorations' - will I be succesful, well that's anybodys guess.

Another Bad Day for Mum!
Poor Mum was found on the floor when her carer went in this morning so she has now ended up in hospital for a couple of days, I spent 8 hours with her at two different hospitals and at times felt that they had completely forgotten about her, she has been lucky so far that in all her years she has never had to stay in hospital so it was upsetting to leave her there looking so forlorn.
The picture is the ATC I made last night for this weeks MAMMA swap - theme 'Maps'.

What a Day!! so far.
Mum's lunchtime Carer sent for the paramedics as she couldn't use her hand to eat her lunch, carer thought she had had a stroke but after a thorough check over she was pronounced fit for 93 and the thinking is it could be part of her Parkinsons, I had just washed my hair and was in the middle of brewing a panful of Pumpkin soup when I got the call so droppped everything and went! Anyway a false alarm thankfully so after reorganising Mum's care package and doing some chores etc we got back and had lunch around 3pm - still have to make my hair look respectable. The picture is a 'rustic' piece I've been working on, the background is wool topps, felted on the Embellisher, with fabrics and fibres added, the picture is a photocopy transferred onto paper using Gel Medium.(size is 16 x 13 cms)

A walk in the Garden.
Have done a partial tidy up in the craft room today but with no great enthusiasm altho it feels better in here already, do a bit more tomorrow unless I get side tracked. Took a walk around the garden yesterday with the camera, I really think that the best show of flowers is at the end of the summer in to Autumn. We have some beautiful Gazanias so have posted some pics of them.

At Last!
I have been worshipping Jan's wall hangings for weeks now, not at a distance but real up close and personal so tonight I got down to making one of my own. I transferred the picture onto fabric from a photocopy, using Golden Gel medium, then just added paper, lace and scrim as a background on a curtaining type fabric, the crochet bits are from a large rectangular mat I got in a charity shop today for a pound, it will have loads of life in it for future use. Thanks for the Inspiration Jan!!

Vindicated??
Here are the three atcs that 'caused the mess', they are on the theme 'shades of white' for a hosted swap and may not show up too well, I have used felt as a base, curtain net, lace, voile and a whitish hessian. Again a case of I can do that then panic - have I actually got the bits to do it with? , of course I have, after much searching - that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Lots of Goodies!!s
Back home after two days in the caravan, one of which I spent at the NEC walking around the Festival of quilts and of course the TRADE stands. I met Jackie in the afternoon and had a lovely chat with her,Jackie, thank you so much for the gift of teabag paper and notebook and also one of her beautiful Brooches (I am not worthy!!!).It was a treat getting home and unpacking my bag of goodies as I'd forgotten what I had actually bought, posted a couple of pictures to show it wasn't much - also two books, one by Maggie Grey and one by Beryl Taylor, both are wonderful eye candy.

Bubble Wrap????
This weeks MAMMA challenge was to use - bubble wrap, wood, staples, a flower and a star - where does Margaret get these ideas from I wonder, anyway I managed to do it by 'stealing' some green bubble wrap from the apple box at the super market, adding a wooden jigsaw piece, a flower with a star middle and fixing the braid on with staples. Friday I am going to the Quilt Fest at the NEC in Birmingham,I'm really looking forward to it and hoping to find some interesting things to buy ,also will be meeting Jackie (Dogdaisychains) for a cup of tea so should be a good day.

Good Weekend
Had a good day yesterday meeting Wendy and Viv at a forum meet held in Loughborough ,Leicestershire. We talked pretty well all day, trading atcs and ideas etc. It was good to meet Viv who we had been in contact with for about 18 months but had never actually met.Have turned to the Embellisher machine for a fabric fix tonight and made an atc that I think will be going as a swap to Evelyn in Australia.

Wild Weekend!
Back to earth after a great weekend Caravanning at Peterborough with Jan and Chris.(Jansjournal) I still haven't emptied my bag of goodies bought at LB crafts, that was really a treat to visit there, spend some money and check out all the great samples they have on show around the shop. Jan and I crafted in the evenings and brought more Wild Women into the world. I have just organised my first embellisher made ATC swap on the ESE site, just hope I have the swap list and all the names right - I'll soon find out if not.
