When they gave out brains,
I thought they said 'trains'
I missed mine.
When they gave out looks, I thought they said 'books'
I didn't want one.
When they gave out noses,
I thought they said 'roses'
I asked for a red one.
When they gave out chins,
I thought they said 'gins'
I asked for a double.
When they gave out heads,
I thought they said 'beds'
I asked for a soft one
IT PAYS TO LISTEN !
I found this sorting thro' Mum's things
so thought I would share it with you all,
altho' some of you have probably read it before.

These are some of my favourite quotes that I use quite often.
I didn't realize they were a set of verses I just knew that I had heard them when I was a child and they made sense to me.
Heh,heh..this is nice.
I've an extra long nose- so no question of crying about not having one.
Have a great Christmas,dear Maureen.

That's new to me, but it well applies!
Anyway Maureen when they gave out caring you thought they said sharing - and you're brilliant at that.
Many thanks for all the lovely things you share and give us!
( .... and you are brilliant at caring as well!) Connie.
Caring and Sharing should be your middle names xx
How sweet to havefound that with your Mums stuff. It must be very sad to be doing that and finding these little glimmers of things that made her who she was when she was younger and hale and hearty..
I love 'It pays to listen'. Thanks for sharing it, it's given us all a lift. It reminds me of the poem 'The Warning' - "When I grow old I shall wear purple....." Do you know it?
Merry Christmas Maureen, What a really cut poem. I had never heard of it before. Thanks for sharing it with us all. The cleaning out of your MUM stuff must be very sad for you. I dread the day when this come for me. Hugs Judy from very snowy Michigan
I've never heard that before...
