I'm working on lesson 3 of my online course and this involves using and painting tissue and tissutex , I have made a book cover using the tissutex and squares of waxed gold that started off as plain old brown paper and added a napkin grid, I can't believe that this this piece feels more like leather than paper.I have used an interference blue acrylic paint and this shows stronger on the photo than it actually is.

This is an amazing result isn't it. When it is enlarged I can see that it LOOKS like leather and it looks as though it FEELS like leather as well. Intriguing as to the process and very effective as a book cover. Well done for persevering !
well I was just going to say the same as Jan... enlarge it and it looks like leather
Oh how I envy you talent with a needle!

Love the book cover Maureen, you must be very pleased with the way it has turned out. I must give that technique a go for my altered book cover.
Gorgeous!
It certainly looks like leather - another fantastic technique.
