Stitching
I came back from the Quilt Festival last week with lots of ideas and stitching inspiration which resulted in me wanting to make a quiltie/wall hanging of a seascape. The silly thing is that the seascape colour scheme will not fit in with my home colours but I still wanted to have a go, perhaps to make a pair with the first embellisher piece that I did that was a seascape and does hang proudly over the fireplace. I cut out the pieces for a 20 inch long hanging and pieced that together, it's waiting for backing and further stitching.I put together a smaller piece using a quicker method then over stitched and added braids, that's as far as I've got, do I frame it or put an edging round it, not sure yet but I think I like it.

This is beautiful. Lovely colours... and I love the use of the fluffy fibres which give the effect of the foaming waves. The clever stitching and braiding finishes it off and defines it all.
I agree with Jan it is lovely--well done.
This caught my eye on my dashboard, it is sooooo beautiful!
I recently purchased Stitch,Cloth,Paper and Paint by Angie Hughes, and she shows how to do this then use paint to color it all. I can't wait to try it, I bet you would like the book :)
This is beautiful Maureen - I love it. I think you should just put a simple binding round it, perhaps using one of the fabrics in the piece itself or a similar pale sandy coloured fabric.
