Dorset Buttons

I had an e mail from Judy ( CJstitchingandblooms in my links list)in the US, at the weekend, asking help sourcing some Dorset Buttons info which she actually managed to sort out herself before I could get started, any way it got me interested and I found a tutorial and here are my very own handmade Dorset buttons, the pink one took ages to do as I used a fine thread but the orange one took less than two hours - what to do with them now I wonder??

I love Dorset buttons but haven't made one since I did City and Guilds Embroidery donkey's years ago. You could always make more of each to go on a jacket or cardigan, or start a trend for decorating cards with them. They are so lovely you must use them for something special.

They make fantastic Christmas tree decorations Maureen--and you can add a beaded dangly off the bottom for extra bling.

You'll have to knit yourself a cardigan.
They're too nice not to use.

I love them and they brought back memories for me too - my friends and I made similar on small brass curtain rings way back around 1945.
We did them in wool - probably 2ply - I'm sure theywere not as lovely as these and I can't remember what we did with them.
Maybe I'll look up the tutorial .... Connie.
