Easter Stitching.

We spent Easter with my Aunt in Yorkshire, we had good weather and were able to go out and about. I spent the evenings stitching another crazy quilt block, pleased that I had picked a reasonably light coloured piece as the lighting in the lounge was really not good , despite that I think it turned out quite well, the small crochet piece in the bottom left corner was done by my grandmother over 50 years ago, as it fit in with the colour scheme I thought it a shame not to include it( ignore the big stitches that are showing up, that will eventually be in the seam allowance), we found two other sample pieces in a really old tin with some crochet threads that are still in perfect condition and very usable for stitching.I visited lots of charity shops this weekend and it was only this morning before we left that I found one that had a good stock of lace and bits for crafters, I really think they are throwing out all the good bits that we crafters like to buy 'just in case'.

This block is so elegant and lovely. You've taken crazy patchwork to a new level. I think you are right about charity shops. I know of several who try to make the shop look like a fashion outlet and don't have any of the precious bits and pieces that people do throw out and we would buy. They don't realise how much money they are losing by not keeping a corner for all those little treasures.

It's me again - I'd love to do a napkin swap and will put some in the post for you. I've got your address from when we swapped ATCs. I'm hoping to get most of Ratty Tatty lesson 1 done this weekend as life is a bit hectic just now.

Oh Maureen, it's gorgeous, and so precious having a piece of your Grandmother's work included too.
I love visiting charity shops rummaging through the old buttons and sewing miscellany - we do have a couple which still have a fair selection of stuff, but not nearly enough unfortunately.
