I bought a book on various types of felt yesterday ( as if I needed it) and this was in it, I'd found some polystyrene eggs recently that I'd bought years ago so just had to have a go and it will fit into this weeks
ABBA challenge. I felted merino wool tops into the egg with a felting needle - as I only had one needle it took a longish while (note to self - buy more needles and a multi needle holder) I added other colours in lines and dots then finished off with punched daisys and sequins fixed in with pins. A hanger was pushed into the end and glued lightly - voila! a felted egg.

And how right for the time of year! You've reminded me that I must learn to do needle felting ... You've obviously enjoyed our challenge.

What a great idea and a lovely Easter decoration. I bought a load of polystyrene eggs years ago too, and have never used them! I would never have thought of felting on them - thankyou for the tip. Your comment on my blog was very apt. Poppy is so good but can get bored sometimes at our art days, so I let her up on my lap to take a look at what was going on. She gently climbed onto the table to have a good sniff at everything and my daughter took the photo on her mobile phone - it has turned out better than we expected.
Oh what a brilliant egg Maureen and i fancy trying needle felting sometime but like everything ... i just have too many techniques to try lol.
Great work

Its lovely and just great for easter, Jaqi
Great idea Maureen!!! These challenges really do get you in the mood to keep going don't they? I have the Clover needle felting thing with 4 needles in it and a few single ones, jabbed myself in the leg and the arm yesterday LOL, gotta be careful with those things.
Your egg is just beautiful :)
How sweet!! You'l be needing one of those felting tools that i picked up - remember how we couldnt figure out how to insert the needles! That was so funny. I love your egg, just in time for Easter.
Hello Maureen. I really love your needle felted Easter Egg. great idea to use the polystyrene base. Happy Easter to you and your family. Hugs Judy
This is just great - and I didn't know you could felt into polystyrene, so thanks for the inspiration Maureen!
